An Update from Your NFIB/Wisconsin State Director

Date: January 31, 2016

The Legislature is recessed until January 12, 2016, when they return for the second half of the two-year session. Committees will continue to meet during the interim period to take formal action on bills in preparation for floor periods scheduled during the first three months of 2016.

I expect bills will be introduced relating to changes to Wisconsin’s worker compensation system, unemployment compensation reform, perhaps some changes to the regulatory review process, and some significant civil justice revisions that will help fight lawsuit abuse.

Finally, I invite NFIB members to attend the annual Business Day in Madison on Wednesday, February 24, 2016.

NFIB will host the exclusive small business session with speakers and topics of interest to Wisconsin’s small business community. For more information, please contact Deanna Esser, NFIB Office of State Public Policy at 608/255-6083 or [email protected].

As always, please let me know should you have any questions regarding the status of legislation or regulations that are important to you – contact Bill G. Smith, State Director, NFIB Office of State Public Policy, 608/255-6083 or [email protected].

We value your continued support and active involvement as a member of the NFIB, the leading voice on behalf of small business in Madison and Washington, D.C.

BILL G. SMITH

STATE DIRECTOR
