During his first press conference in six months, the president-elect talked major small business issues, including repealing Obamacare and Midwest business growth.
President-elect Donald Trump on Jan. 11 held his first press conference since July, and it ran the gamut from ethics to healthcare to Russia.

Much of the early focus was on whether Trump would remove himself from his vast business holdings once he takes office. Answer: He’ll turn over operations and control of his holdings to a trust controlled by his eldest sons, according to The New York Times. Following those remarks, the president-elect eventually talked about new businesses that would start up in the Midwest.
“Big news is going to be announced over the next couple of weeks about companies that are going to be building in the Midwest,” Trump said. “You saw yesterday Fiat Chrysler, big, big factory, [is] going to be built in this country as opposed to another country. Ford just announced that they stopped plans for a billion-dollar plant in Mexico. And they’re going to be moving into Michigan and expanding very substantially an existing plant … I hope that General Motors will be following, and I think they will be.”
On the topic of healthcare, Trump didn’t change his tune much—he said he still plans to repeal and replace Obamacare. However, he stressed that this would be a “simultaneous” action, one that could happen “on the same day or the same week.”
“As soon as our secretary [of Health and Human Services] is approved and gets into the office, we will be filing a plan … and the plan will be repeal and replace Obamacare. We’re going to have healthcare that is far less expensive and far better.”
Already, the GOP is moving in that direction. Senate Republicans approved a budget blueprint in a 51-48 vote Jan. 12 that would “allow them to gut the healthcare law without the threat of a Democratic filibuster.”
