What first attracted you to NFIB as an employer?
First was the ad in the paper saying "earn up to $600 per week." Then the fact that you work independently (like owning your own business — which I did). The bottom line is you can make as much money as you want by working as hard as you choose to work. I am very disciplined about work so that part is easy. I like meeting new people every day and talking to them about something as important as small business and their problems and solutions.
How does NFIB help you realize your personal goals?
We are very motivated by the money we can make. NFIB also works very hard to accomplish solutions to the needs of small business, which ultimately gives us credibility. We tell business owners what we will do for them and then we do it.
Do the mission and values of NFIB align with your personal mission and values, and if so, why?
NFIB's mission is to get the government off the back of small business so they can do what they do best – work hard to be successful and work hard to help their employees. The government gets in the way and we help get them out of the way. Having been a small-business owner, I know what it feels like to want to be left alone to do your job and not get bogged down with unnecessary paperwork, regulations, etc.
What do you like about working at NFIB?
I like the freedom we have to do our job — just as small-business owners want the freedom to do their job. NFIB and their staff assists us in any way they can to be successful — they don't get in our way.
How do the employee benefits you receive help you to reach your personal financial goals?
It's great not having to worry about insurance costs, etc. We pay a small portion but NFIB contributes the biggest part of our costs.
What kind of positive relationship with co-workers and members have you created?
Our manager, John Casella, keeps us up on what each of us in our division is accomplishing and doing by sending out newsletters each week. We have monthly conference calls where we all talk together. NFIB keeps us informed about the entire NFIB sales team and our members informed on issues. It's easy to have positive relationships with members because we are accomplishing what we set out to do.
If you have been recognized as a high achiever through the organization, how does that recognition increase your job satisfaction and personal satisfaction?
It's always nice to be recognized. Also, it would be hard to feel comfortable falling behind once you achieve a certain level of production. So that also keeps you motivated to do better.
