YEF Scholarship Application Now Available Online

Date: October 01, 2015

One of America’s most publicized scholarship programs is now taking applicants for its 2016 awards, and you can help nurture the next generation of entrepreneurs.
Since 2003, the Young Entrepreneur Foundation of the National Federation of Independent Business has awarded more than 2,700 scholarships totaling $2.7 million. In 2015, the NFIB Young Entrepreneur Foundation awarded 100 Young Entrepreneur Award Scholarships to students across the country out of more than 600 applicants.

As an added bonus this year, VISA Inc. has agreed to double this year’s awards for every winner NFIB members find.
Ninety five of the scholarship winners will receive a $2,000 award. Five students will be chosen as Young Entrepreneur of the Year Award finalists. The Young Entrepreneur of the Year will receive $25,000. The Dan Danner Leadership Award winner will receive $15,000 and the remaining three finalists will each receive $10,000 each.
The scholarships are used to help with tuition costs for the winners’ post-secondary education. NFIB’s Young Entrepreneur Foundation awarded $145,000 to deserving young entrepreneurs in 2015, thanks to the financial support from numerous small-business leaders, corporate and foundation supporters.
Students who received the Young Entrepreneur Award are seniors in high school who own and/or operate their own small business.
Here’s how you can help.
  • Tell a young entrepreneur to apply for the 2016 NFIB Young Entrepreneur Awards. The online application period opened October 1 and applications are due by December 18. www.nfib.com/yea
  • Become a Nominator. The scholarship process wouldn’t be possible without dedicated NFIB members who interview the applications to help determine which students are most worthy of the coveted Young Entrepreneur Award. Each interview takes as little as 20 minutes, via phone or in person. www.nfib.com/nominator
  • Donate of $50, $100, or more to help a Nevada student continue his or her education, while still building their business.
  • Consider establishing a scholarship in your name or your company’s name. That donation starts at $1,000 and will be matched by VISA Inc., to make your contribution worth $2000 for a young entrepreneur in the state of your choosing. www.nfib.com/contribute-to-yef
What a great way to show your support for tomorrow’s business leaders today by contributing to the NFIB Young Entrepreneur Awards. In order to complete the funding for the scholarship program, payment is needed no later than March 31, 2016.
The good news is that it’s tax deductible!
Thank you to those of you who supported the YEF in the past, both as a contributor and as a nominator. You may donate online at www.nfib.com/contribute-to-yef. To ensure that a Nevada graduating senior is awarded a scholarship, simply select the drop down option under the “name of scholarship” titled Nevada Leadership Council YEA.
