Wisconsin's Governor Meets with Business Owners on Tourism

Date: August 20, 2014

Lunch with the Governor to Talk About Tourism

Members of the Tourism Federation of Wisconsin, including
NFIB/Wisconsin, recently met with Governor Scott Walker to discuss the
legislative agenda of the tourism industry that includes increasing the state’s
investment in promoting tourism throughout the state.

The tourism industry, dominated by small business, had a
$17.5 billion impact on the state’s economy in 2013, is responsible for about 8
percent of all jobs in the state, and generates $1.35 billion in state and
local revenue.

Governor Walker has been a strong advocate for tourism and
indicated his continued support for policies that will continue to drive the
growth and success of Wisconsin’s tourism-related businesses.

Bill G. Smith, NFIB’s State Director, Connie Smith and Bud
Styer, members of NFIB’s Leadership Council, and John Kavanaugh, Chair of the
Leadership Council all attended the meeting, held in Madison at the Hotel Red.
