Dawn Starns, NFIB/Louisiana state director, discusses hot topics in the state legislature right now, like balancing the budget and paid sick leave mandates.
Hello NFIB/Louisiana Members,
We are working hard on your behalf this legislative session!
We testified in Senate Finance Committee in support of the Inventory Tax repeal. That legislation has a ways to go and requires a two-thirds vote of both chambers, but we are advocating on behalf of small business! The budget remains the hot topic of session, and a complete plan to do as little harm to business and still balance the state budget is yet to be determined. NFIB will continue to advocate against policies that balance the budget on the backs of small business. Additionally, there are still a number of unresolved issues we’re fighting like the proposed paid sick leave mandate and supporting the removal of the payroll deduction for union dues. NFIB continues to be the voice of small business in Baton Rouge.
Please stay tuned for information on Small Business Day at the Capitol! We hope to see you in Baton Rouge in late May.
Regards,
Dawn Starns
