The National Federation of Independent Business, Louisiana’s and America’s leading small-business association, today endorsed Bill Cassidy for U.S. Senate.
“Our members support the candidates who support small business, and Congressman Cassidy’s record speaks for itself,” said Lisa Goeas, NFIB vice president for Political and Grassroots. Cassidy has earned a 97-percent lifetime NFIB voting record in the U.S. House of Representatives.
In addition to today’s endorsement, NFIB launched a flight of radio and online ads asking voters to support Cassidy in one of the most closely-watched races in the country as control of the Senate hangs in the balance. NFIB also released a Bill Cassidy candidate webpage on its National Election Center website, where voters can go to find tools that make it easy to volunteer, donate and support Rep. Cassidy. The website also features a video of a Louisiana small business owner, who explains how Washington is making things harder for Main Street and why Bill Cassidy is his choice for U.S. Senate.
As a member of the U.S. House of Representatives, Cassidy has earned a 100-percent NFIB voting record in the current Congress, supporting key bills concerning the National Labor Relations Board (NLRB) (H.R. 1120), improving the nation’s supply of affordable energy (H.R. 3, H.R. 2728 and H.R. 2231) and providing flexible family leave options (H.R. 1406). He has also taken the small-business position on delaying the individual mandate in the federal health-care law (H.R. 2668) and reducing frivolous lawsuits (H.R. 2655). Landrieu’s record in the 113th Congress is just 40 percent.
“On the other hand,” Goeas said, “Mary Landrieu voted against repealing Obamacare. She voted against an amendment that would have protected individuals and small-business owners from higher taxes. She voted against permanently eliminating the estate tax, which makes it harder for people to pass their family businesses to their children.
“Louisiana’s Main Street communities, businesses and families are tired of empty campaign promises, and simply can’t afford six more years of Mary Landrieu,” Goeas said.
“There’s absolutely no doubt where Bill Cassidy stands when it comes to small business,” said Dawn Starns, state director of NFIB/Louisiana. “He listens to what our members have to say, and he does everything he can to help create an environment where they can succeed.”

That’s why this fall, our members will be out in force supporting Bill Cassidy and his vision for Louisiana. NFIB has over 4,200 dues-paying members in Louisiana representing a cross section of the state’s economy. Cassidy’s endorsement comes from NFIB’s SAFE (Save America’s Free Enterprise) Trust, the association’s political action committee, and is based on the candidate’s positions regarding key small-business issues including health care, taxes, and labor and regulatory issues.
Small-business owners and their employees vote in high numbers and are known for actively recruiting friends, family members and acquaintances to go to the polls. NFIB will encourage its members to help turn out the small-business vote in November.
