VIDEO: NFIB Endorses Darin LaHood for Congress in 18th District Special Election

Date: August 21, 2015

The National Federation of Independent Business has endorsed Darin LaHood for Congress. LaHood is running in the Illinois 18th District special election to be held this fall.

NFIB/Illinois State Director Kim Clarke Maisch announced the endorsement at LaHood campaign event held at Quincy Metal Fabrications in Quincy.

“Darin LaHood had a 100 percent voting record during his time in the state Senate and we are proud to endorse his bid for the U.S. House of Representatives,” Maisch said. “We believe that he will stand up for small businesses in Washington, working to fix our broken health care system and reduce our crippling debt. These are among the top priorities for small businesses struggling to balance their own books.”
Darin LaHood was appointed to a term in the Illinois State Senate in 2011 and elected to a full four-year term in 2012. Prior to his service in the state legislature, he served as a state and federal prosecutor and in private practice.
“When we spoke with Darin LaHood, we heard someone who is making small business issues a priority,” said NFIB’s National Political Director Sharon Sussin. “He has a strong voting record to back up his rhetoric and we are excited to see what he can do in Congress. Washington continues to hold back growth with excessive taxes and regulations. We need more allies like LaHood to join in the fight.”
LaHood’s endorsement today comes from the NFIB SAFE (Save America’s Free Enterprise) Trust, the organization’s political action committee. Small business owners vote in high percentages and they are influential in their communities. NFIB members in Illinois’ 18th Congressional District will work hard to send Darin LaHood to Congress.
