SMALL BUSINESS IN NEW JERSEY APPLAUDS 36 POINT SENATE PLAN BUT SHOW ME THE TAX CUTS

TRENTON (April 23, 2015): Today the National Federation of Independent Business (NFIB) is applauding a bi-partisan collection of bills aimed at improving the business climate in the State of New Jersey but hoping it is only the beginning in terms of assistance to the small business community.

“New Jersey has been one of the slowest states in the country to begin to feel relief from the great recession. Business owners throughout the state are beginning to wonder when, or even if, they will get the opportunity to reap the benefits of the improving national economy.” According to NFIB New Jersey State Director, Laurie Ehlbeck, “The Senate certainly recognized these issues and we are hopeful that they will act quickly to put the bills through.”

A press conference was held yesterday touting various bills in the package that included a total of 36 pieces of legislation. The bills focused on everything from tourism to vocational training. Absent however, was any talk of tax cuts for the hard working people of New Jersey in the small business community.

“It’s always a relief to see that no tax increases are included in new bills. What was proposed yesterday was a good start to helping to promote small business in New Jersey and for that, our members are extremely grateful. That being said, in order for small business owners to have real peace of mind, we must begin to discuss tax breaks and a reduction in regulation so that proprietors may begin to expand their existing businesses and hire additional people. Until the conversation turns to true reform, small businesses in New Jersey will continue to be skeptical about any progress in the recovery of the state’s economy.” Concluded Ehlbeck.
