Support Family Businesses; Repeal Estate Tax

Death Tax Repeal Act Reaches 221 Cosponsors in House

WASHINGTON, D.C., June 18, 2014 Family Business Estate Tax Coalition Co-Chair Matt Turkstra made the following statement in response to today’s announcement that H.R. 2429, The Death Tax Repeal Act of 2013, added a 221st cosponsor:

“Opposition to the destructive federal estate tax continues to grow and we are pleased to see strong, bipartisan support for its repeal,” said Turkstra. “It is clear that the estate tax is an ongoing burden for family owned farms and businesses, requiring planning and preparation – regardless if the tax is ever collected. With the majority of the House of Representatives now declaring their support for ending this punitive tax, we hope Congress will move quickly to protect family businesses.”

The Family Business Estate Tax Coalition continues to advocate passage of S. 1183 and H.R. 2429: Death Tax Repeal Act of 2013.

The Family Business Estate Tax Coalition (FBETC) is a grassroots coalition of over 50 national family-owned business organizations dedicated to the full, permanent repeal of the estate tax.
