Study Shows Cost of Washington Regulations on Arkansas Small Businesses

Date: September 25, 2014

new study backs up claims by small businesses on the impact Washington’s never-ending and costly regulatory agenda is having on local employers and employees.

While the findings of the study should force Congress to get serious about taming a regulatory system that is increasingly and perhaps prohibitively, expensive for small businesses, the National Federation of Independent Business (NFIB) believes that only by electing “Small Business Certified” candidates will such needed reforms be achieved.

Key findings of the study include:

• The average American company with fewer than 50 employees pays nearly $12,000 to comply with regulations.
• The average small manufacturer with fewer than 50 employees, must pay nearly $35,000 per year, per employee to be in compliance.
• The average small manufacturing firm with 10 employees must spend $350,000 per year complying with federal regulations before they make a single dollar in profit

Mark Pryor has ample time to stem the tide of costly regulations coming out of Washington and ease the burden on Arkansas job creators, but has failed to do so at the expense of local jobs and limiting Arkansas businesses seeking to expand and grow.

Just another reason Arkansas voters should for Vote for Main Street and Vote for Tom Cotton.
