Brad Jones, state director of the National Federation of Independent Business, released the following statement today in support of Senate Bill 15, a proposal to create a Joint Committee on Tax Policy:
“We’ve needed something like S.B. 15 for many years now. Missouri hasn’t undertaken a full review of the state’s tax laws since 1968. That’s before the moon landing and before most Missourians were even born.
“The committee’s job would be to point out any strengths and weaknesses in our tax code and suggest ways to make it better. These reforms would be debated in the open in the legislature, which is how it should be done.
“S.B. 15 is commonsense legislation that would help Missouri stay competitive with neighboring states and create an environment where small businesses can grow and create jobs.”
