State Director Visits Triple XXX Family Restaurant

Date: May 14, 2014

By Barbara Quandt, NFIB Indiana State Director

A special highlight of my day in Lafayette was my visit (my first) to the
famous Triple XXX Family Restaurant (yes, it is definitely G-rated!).  And what a treat (literally) it was!  NFIB field rep Mark Leslie introduced me to
owners Greg and Carrie Ehresman and Greg offered to make me one of their famous
burgers.

A little background:  NFIB Member
Support Manager Bethany Gosewehr is a Lafayette area native and Purdue alum and
has told me many times about the hamburgers at the Triple XXX.  Now to be exact, she has talked up one
specific burger… the Duane Purvis All-American Burger.  (If you
don’t know who Duane Purvis is, that’s okay. I didn’t know either – I think he
was a football player – please don’t hold it against me Purdue fans!)
Fortunately, the name is not really that
relevant to the story.  The important
thing to remember is that the Purvis burger has peanut butter on
it.  Ewww… you say?  Well, that is what I thought, too, until I
tried it.

Keep in mind that it was approximately 2:30pm and I had just had lunch at
our meeting at Sgt. Preston’s in Lafayette.
But Greg offered to let me taste one, so I agreed, even though I wasn’t
really hungry.  (Hey I’m a good
sport!)  Well, I am here to tell you that
the “Purvis” was AWESOME!  And, of
course, I didn’t just taste it, I ate all of it.  (To quote an old Alka-Seltzer commercial…. I
can’t believe I ate the whole thing!)

My visit to the Triple XXX was great fun.
If you are ever in Lafayette, you must go to Triple XXX, try the
“Purvis” and say hello to NFIB members Greg and Carrie.  Believe me; you will thank me for the tip.

Note:  I will be visiting NFIB
member businesses as I travel the state this summer.  If you would like me to visit you, just call
or drop me an email.  As a former small
business owner myself, I love meeting NFIB members, hearing your stories and
getting to know you.

And most of all… thank you for being an NFIB member!
