Small Businesses Remain Opposed to Medicaid Expansion

April 14, 2015 – Statement by Bill Herrle, Executive Director of the National Federation of Independent Business/Florida on accepting federal funds to expand Medicaid.

“Several business groups gathered today in support of Medicaid expansion; however, beneath the rhetoric, the business community is in fact very divided on the issue of accepting federal funds to expand Medicaid.

“In contrast to some of these groups, NFIB has no hospitals or insurance companies in our membership. We are the only business group that truly represents the small, independent businesses of Florida, and their position is clear. Small business owners understand that expanding Medicaid jeopardizes our state’s solvency. They are concerned for the future of our state and our economic viability, and as such remain opposed to Medicaid expansion.”
