Small Business Urges Focus on
Tax Relief During Special Session

May 27, 2015, Tallahassee, FL – The National Federation of Independent Business,
Florida’s largest small business association, calls on lawmakers to deliver tax
relief to job creators and protect Florida’s economy when they reconvene for
special session June 1.

“We encourage legislators to keep our economy strong by investing in Florida’s
job creators with a budget that puts money back into the economy,” said Bill
Herrle, NFIB/Florida Executive Director. “Small business owners grow our communities and create jobs for our
neighbors, and we need a budget that gives back to the hard working men
and women who have invested so much in our state.”

Small business owners represent 98.9 percent of the state’s employers,
employing nearly three million workers, according to the Small Business
Administration.

“NFIB supports tax relief that specifically
benefits small business, including the reduction in the sales tax on
commercial leases, the reduction in the communications services tax, and the
small business Saturday sales tax holiday,” Herrle said. “When you cut taxes on
small business owners, they reinvest in their businesses and create jobs. These
tax cuts are essential to helping move the economy forward, and we urge
lawmakers to make the smart choice for Florida’s businesses, their employees,
and their employees’ families by including small business tax relief in their budget
package.”
