SMALL BUSINESS RESPONSE TO GOVERNOR DAYTON’S STATE OF THE STATE REMARKS
MINNEAPOLIS (April 8,
2015): Tonight the National Federation of Independent Business is happy to
offer their viewpoint on Governor Dayton’s State of the State.
“After enacting a
dramatic tax and spending increase in 2013, it is really disappointing that
Governor Dayton wants to spend virtually all of our large surplus without
providing helpful tax relief to small businesses to grow jobs and strengthen
our economy.” Said NFIB Minnesota State Director, Michael Hickey, “This large
and likely to continue surplus has continued to provide lawmakers an
opportunity to improve Minnesota’s tax structure and business climate, however
after tonight’s remarks it is clear that the governor has no interest in doing that.”
Continued Hickey, “NFIB
members are also strongly opposed to the governor’s plan to sales tax gasoline
at the wholesale level which could raise pump prices significantly when
gasoline prices spike. This is not a sound proposal and it is only a matter of
when gasoline prices spike, not if.”
