Heralds House Tax Package, Thanks House for Investing in Florida

While the budget battle over using state dollars to expand Medicaid left
it smaller than orginially proposed, a tax cut package aimed to put money back
into the hands of Floridians and reinvest in Florida’s small businesses is headed to the House floor for a full vote.

“Small business applauds the House’s tax package, and thanks the House for investing
in Florida and recognizing the importance of the small businesses that give
Floridians jobs and keep our economy going,” said Bill Herrle, NFIB/Florida Executive
Director.

The tax package contains some of NFIB’s major
priorities, including the small business Saturday sales tax holiday and a reduction
in the sales tax business owners pay on commercial leases. It will be voted on by the full House Friday.

“Tax relief that specifically benefits
small businesses benefits all Floridians,” Herrle said. “The reduction
in the sales tax on commercial leases, the reduction in the communications
services tax, and the small business Saturday sales tax holiday put money back
into our economy. These tax cuts will help grow our communities and keep Floridians
working – an essential component to helping move our economy forward.”

The tax cuts are also poised for passage in the Senate, but they won’t
officially be taken up until budget discussions begin this weekend.
