NFIB Issues Key Vote Alert on Bill to Keep EPA and Army Corps from
Expanding Waters Regulation
Washington,
DC (November 3, 2015) – Today, the National
Federation of Independent Business sent a letter to all members of the U.S.
Senate calling on them to support S. 1140, the Federal Water Quality Protection
Act, a bill to stop the Environmental Protection Agency and Army Corps of
Engineers’ Waters of the United States rule. The NFIB will consider a vote to
begin debate on the bill as a key vote for the 114th Congress.
“EPA and Army Corps
have overreached, creating a rule that gives them power over places that aren’t
even wet most of the time,” said NFIB Vice President of Public Policy
Amanda Austin. “Congress never intended for the Clean Water Act to give the
federal government nearly unlimited jurisdiction over waterways. Senators should
stand up for the law, the constitution and small business by stopping this reckless
power grab.”
