Small Business Backs Miller-Meeks to Take 2nd Congressional District Seat

Date: September 29, 2014

Des Moines (September 29, 2014) – The National
Federation of Independent Business (NFIB)
today announced its support for Dr.
Mariannette Miller-Meeks in her bid for Iowa’s 2nd District
congressional seat.

“She’s a doctor
and a small businesswoman, and that gives her a very special perspective on
what’s wrong with Washington and what needs to be done to fix the problems,”
said NFIB/Iowa State Director Kristin
Failor
.

NFIB is the
country’s leading advocate for small business owners representing roughly 11,000 members in Iowa.  The group grades incumbents based on their
voting record on key issues identified by its members such as health care,
taxes, labor and regulatory issues.  Miller-Meeks
is running against Congressman Dave Loebsack, whose lifetime NFIB record is a
disappointing 38 percent and who has voted with the organization only one time in
this session.

“Dr. Miller-Meeks
wants to reign in the federal government and get it out of our personal medical
decisions,” said NFIB Iowa State Director Kristin Failor.  “She wants to cut taxes and put the brakes on
federal spending.

“Congressman
Loebsack, on the other hand,” has voted against Iowa small businesses on nearly
every key issue this session and far more often than not over the course of his
career,” she continued.  “This is a very
easy decision for small business owners in the 2nd District.”

Miller-Meeks’ endorsement was made by the NFIB SAFE Trust,
the organization’s political action committee.
Surveys show that small business owners are influential in their
communities and NFIB members in Iowa’s 2nd
Congressional District
will work hard this year to send Mariannette Miller-Meeks to Washington.
