LINCOLN, Neb., April 15, 2014—With a week to go before their April 22 forum in Omaha, Democratic and Republican candidates for the U.S. Senate are sharpening their business knowledge, especially when it comes to small business, Nebraska’s biggest employer group and generator of almost every new job.
“I believe Americans across the country and here in Nebraska are taking time to learn more about the candidates who are running for office, considering the important issues that are at stake for business owners,” said Bob Hallstrom, Nebraska state director for the National Federation of Independent Business, which has more than 4,500 members in the state.
NFIB, the Greater Omaha Chamber of Commerce, Nebraska Farm Bureau, Business-Industry Political Action Committee and the National Association of Manufacturers, are co-sponsoring the U.S. Senate forum, which will be held at the Sheraton Omaha Hotel on Tuesday, April 22, beginning at 6 p.m. with a candidate meet and greet, followed at 7 p.m. by the forum.
Obamacare and its impact on business, taxes and regulations are some of the business issues candidates will be asked about. All seven Democratic and Republican candidates have confirmed their participation.
