Short-Term Spending Bill May Include Funding For Campaign Against ISIL
House GOP
leadership proposed a
short-term spending bill to keep the government open through mid-December. The
legislation was originally expected to pass the House by Thursday, then sent to the Senate. Action on
the bill, however, has been delayed by a request by the President for the
inclusion of a provision allowing the US to arm Syrian rebels. While that may
push action on the legislation into next week, it does not seem to have put the
measure’s fate in doubt.
The legislation, as it stands, will fund the government at current levels, but
also has several other measures attached to it. In addition to $88 million to
fight the Ebola outbreak, the legislation also includes an extension of the
Export-Import Bank’s charter.
