Repeal of Nuisance Fees to Save NY Businesses Money

Governor Cuomo today announced the repeal of 57 nuisance fees as part of the 2015-2016 budget, which will save businesses and individuals $3 million per year. NFIB/NY has been pushing for repeal of some of these fees and listed eliminating the fees as part of its 2015 Legislative Agenda

The list of fees repealed that could be of interest to small businesses includes:
-$9.00 Department of State biennial statement filing fee
-$20 license fee for farm products dealers
-$100 commercial feed manufacturers fee
-$50 fee paid by new trucking, ambulette, movers or charter bus operators
-$250 fee charged to professional employer organizations operating in another state
-$1000 initial registration fee charged to professional employer organizations and $500 renewal fee
-$1000 scaffold plan examination fee charged for submission of equipment plans for dwellings over 75 feet
-$350 workplace safety and loss consultation fee with the Department of Labor
