This legislation would enable small businesses to apply for low cost power benefits through competition for a dedicated pool of hydropower and provides access to the general pool of hydropower available to businesses of all sizes. Phasing out the outdated Power for Jobs program and providing a permanent, sustainable program will help to reduce the cost burden on small businesses across New York. 

            Anticipated savings for small business include:
Difficult to quantify, but with the rising cost of energy, the ability to receive lowers cost energy would certainly have a tremendous impact on small business owners.
Members/prospects most likely to be interested:
Manufacturing and other energy intensive business across New York State; other small businesses, including farmers, have the opportunity to apply for and receive lower cost power benefits
