HB 125 was stricken on June 3, 2015 and will not advance during the 2015 session. The bill would allow full time public employees to take 12 weeks of paid maternity or paternity leave. Under this bill new parents would also
be eligible for leave for up to one year after the birth of the child.
Currently, only
seven states provide paid family leave and medical benefits to
state employees. Passage of this bill could lead to a push to mandate that small businesses provide paid leave which would hurt many Delaware small business and employees. NFIB will continue to monitor this issue and keep you informed.
