CARLISLE (July 31, 2014) – At an NFIB Leadership Seminar at the U.S. Army Heritage and Education Center Governor Tom Corbett told small business owners that the state pension system must be reformed to avoid increased taxes and protect the integrity of future budgets.
The day included briefings from a variety of leaders from around the state. Supreme Court Justice Michael Eakin talked about actions at the state’s highest court. Auditor General Eugene DePasquale explained how audits, conducted by his office, have turned up waste and mismanagement in state government. The Chancellor of Pennsylvania’s state university system, Frank Brogan, discussed workforce training issues of concern to small business. Attendees also heard from Deputy Commandant of the U.S. Army War College, Col. David Funk, state Representative Stephen Bloom, and Col. Bob DeSousa, State Director for U.S. Senator Pat Toomey.
