Ohio BWC Switching To Prospective Billing

Date: July 11, 2014

Currently, Ohio employers pay their workers’ compensation
premiums to the Ohio Bureau of Workers’ Compensation (BWC) retrospectively for the
previous six month period.  Effective
July 1, 2015, the BWC is changing its billing structure to a prospective
payment process to modernize operations. This change aligns the BWC with
standard insurance industry practices and enables them to collect premiums
before extending coverage.  The
transition to a prospective billing system will provide more flexibility for
employers, lower overall systems costs along with providing other benefits.

Throughout this fluid process NFIB/Ohio and CareWorks
Consultants, Inc. will keep you updated as additional information is released.  If you have questions, please do not hesitate
to contact CareWorks Consultants, Inc. Account Executives Kacy Beauman at (866)

or Lisa Shaver at ext. 1552 or [email protected] with any questions about
the new prospective billing structure.
