NFIB cites candidate’s dedication to small
business

Washington, DC
(May 28, 2015)
– The National Federation of Independent Business today endorsed Trent
Kelly for the 1st Congressional District Special Election being held
on Tuesday, June 2nd.

“As one who grew up in a very small
Mississippi town and from humble middle-class roots, Trent saw firsthand the
value of small business,” said NFIB/Mississippi
State Director Ron Aldridge
. “As the owner of a small law firm, Trent
learned what it takes as an entrepreneur to succeed and the burdens placed on
the back of small business. Just as he has gone to battle for our country
during wartime, he is prepared to do battle for our NFIB members on the front
line of Congress.”

Colonel Trent Kelly has served in the
Mississippi National Guard for nearly 30 years and he is the district attorney
for the northeast corner of the state, located in the congressional district.
Having previously owned his own private law practice, Kelly has a firm grasp of
issues facing small businesses. He calls for restoring the doctor-patient relationship
within the healthcare system by dismantling the Affordable Care Act, reducing
government and bureaucratic burdens of regulations and simplifying the tax code
to give more money back to families and businesses.

“Trent Kelly believes that in order for the
country to have a strong economy, we need to have a strong small business
community,” said NFIB’s National
Political Director Sharon Sussin
. “Further, Mr. Kelly expressed a
willingness to tackle the undue and excessive regulations that are stunting
small businesses. Mr. Kelly’s priorities include creating a friendlier small
business tax climate and tackling the rising costs of healthcare on employers.”

Kelly’s endorsement today comes from the NFIB
SAFE Trust, the organization’s political action committee.  Small business
owners vote in high percentages and they are influential in their
communities.  NFIB members in Mississippi’s 1st
Congressional District
will work hard to send Trent Kelly to
Congress.
