North Carolina No. 10 for 2015 Job Growth

NFIB’s monthly Small Business Optimism Index recently revealed that small business owners in North Carolina and the rest of the South Atlantic region (including Florida, Georgia, South Carolina, Virginia and West Virginia) feel slightly more optimistic than those in the rest of the country, and now Forbes is reporting data that helps explain why.

According to data from the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics, North Carolina ranks the 10th best state for non-agricultural job growth in the first three quarters of 2015, with growth of 2.7 percent.

The full list of top 10 states:

  1. Utah (4.1 percent growth)

  2. Washington (3.5 percent—tie)

  3. Florida (3.5 percent—tie)

  4. Oregon (3.3 percent)

  5. Nevada (3.2 percent)

  6. Idaho (3 percent—tie)

  7. California (3 percent—tie)

  8. South Carolina (2.9 percent)

  9. Georgia (2.8 percent)

  10. North Carolina (2.7 percent)
