NFIB/Wisconsin Applauds Walker's Vision for State

Date: September 16, 2014

Madison
(September 16, 2014)

– Governor Walker’s continued focus on small business and jobs is exactly what
Wisconsin needs to improve its competitiveness, the National Federation of
Independent Business (NFIB) said today.

“Property
taxes are a significant burden for small business owners and we’re very pleased
that the Governor remains focused on providing relief,” said NFIB Wisconsin
State Director Bill G. Smith.

Walker
recently unveiled his vision for the state, called Continuing Wisconsin’s
Comeback, which includes property tax relief and reducing income tax
rates.  It’s an extension of his strategy
for cutting taxes and streamlining regulations to make the state friendlier for
entrepreneurs.

“The
Governor is dedicated to removing barriers that discourage new business
development and small business growth because he knows that they create most of
the jobs,” said Smith.  “Other governors
have confined their economic initiatives to targeted incentives for favored
industries and corporations.  Scott
Walker has taken a broader approach and it is working.”

Smith
noted that even with a sluggish national economy Wisconsin has created more
than 100,000 private sector jobs in the past four years.

 “We’re
clearly moving in the right direction,” he said.  “We’re creating jobs.  Small business owners believe that Wisconsin
is a much better investment opportunity than it once was.  And we’re moving up in the national
rankings.”
