As the first days of open enrollment unfold with the Healthcare Connector exchange, NFIB/Massachusetts and other business groups are pointing out problems caused by mandated coverages.
A letter to the leadership of the state Financial Services Committee signed by NFIB/Massachusetts and other business groups called out the ”49 specific services, treatments, supplies and practitioners” mandated by law.” Specifically, NFIB requested a review of those mandates, as well as a moratorium on new coverages.
And the first week of November, state lawmakers are set to hear a number of bills calling for more mandates.
Meanwhile, the Health Connector exchange begins open enrollment with high hopes of being a more efficient option for small businesses and their workers seeking health insurance under the Affordable Care Act and federal health care reform.
