NFIB/Iowa Backs King for Reelection to Congress

Date: May 22, 2014

Des Moines (May 22, 2014) – The National Federation of Independent Business (NFIB) today announced its support for the reelection of Congressman Steve King in the 4th Congressional District.

“Iowa small business owners couldn’t ask for a more reliable ally in Washington and we are very proud to support Steve King for reelection,” said NFIB/Iowa State Director Kristin Failor.

NFIB is the country’s leading advocate for small business owners representing roughly 11,000 members in Iowa.  The group endorses candidates based on their voting record on key issues identified by its members such as health care, taxes, labor and regulatory issues.  NFIB tracks the votes of every member of Congress and King has earned a perfect 100 percent so far during the 113th Congress.

“On every one of the key NFIB issues this Congress, Steve King has stood by Iowa small businesses,” said Failor.  “He’s been an extremely important voice in Washington for small business owners and our members strongly believe that he deserves reelection.”

NFIB Vice President Lisa Goeas, who heads the organization’s political and grassroots operation, said it’s important for the country to have more people in Washington like Steve King who understand the importance of small business.

“Small business is the engine of job growth and prosperity and Steve King knows it,” she said.  “Every member of Congress and every candidate claims to care about small business but many don’t have a voting record to match their rhetoric.  Steve King’s record speaks for itself and we’re very proud to support him this year.

King’s endorsement was made by the NFIB SAFE Trust, the organization’s political action committee.  Surveys show that small business owners are influential in their communities and NFIB members in Iowa’s 4th Congressional District will work hard this year to send Steve King back to Washington.
