NFIB/Alabama State Director Rosemary
Elebash testified before the Senate Finance and Taxation Education Committee on May 20 in support of Senate Bill 9.
Sponsored Sen. Paul Sanford (Huntsville), SB 9 would provide a
state income tax deduction for contributions to health savings accounts, also known as HSAs.
This legislation would benefit residents and business owners with
high-deductible health plans and provide a tool to help people better manage
their healthcare costs. Seventy-six percent of NFIB members said they
support a state income tax deduction for HSAs on a NFIB 2015 Alabama member
ballot.
The bill passed committee 11-0.
