NFIB Responds to Wage Board's Predictable Announcement

ALBANY (July 22, 2015) – All of the following may be attributed to Mike Durant, State Director of NFIB in response to the Wage Board’s announcement regarding minimum wage rates for fast food establishments.
“Today’s foreseeable announcement by the Wage Board will assuredly set a disastrous course for future minimum wage discussions and will inevitably impact main street employers across the spectrum.  The slate of offenses against the business community in this process range from the lack of true business representation to the insistence by the Governor to embrace a movement which proved hostile to employers at every public hearing.   Simply, this entire process was a charade and will impact future policy discussions with the Cuomo administration.
Small employers heavily rely on an entry level workforce and today’s decision will ultimately stifle the hiring ability for small business outside the fast food industry.  This is yet another mark against the Governor’s alleged work to transform New York’s economic present and future.”
