NFIB: Nunn Misses the Point on Jobs

Date: October 09, 2014

Kyle Jackson, state director of the National Federation of Independent Business, released the following statement today in response to Michelle Nunn’s criticism of David Perdue over outsourcing:

“Once again, Michelle Nunn completely misses the point when it comes to jobs in Georgia. It isn’t that businesses want to leave. It’s that Congress and the Obama administration are making it hard for them to stay.

“Outsourcing is a genuine problem and a real tragedy for millions of Americas, but Michelle Nunn doesn’t seem to understand, or doesn’t want to admit, that it’s the very policies she represents that are sending our corporations overseas. It’s higher taxes, rising health-care costs, soaring energy costs and overreaching regulations that are leaving American corporations with no choice but to seek out more business-friendly climates.

“David Perdue understands what it takes to grow a company and create jobs. That’s why he supports lower taxes, sensible regulations, an energy policy that eases our dependence on foreign oil and real reform that makes health care more affordable and more accessible for Georgia families.

“On top of that, creating a more business-friendly climate here at home would help Georgia’s small, families businesses grow and create jobs, which is important, because small businesses are part of the community. You don’t have to worry about a small business in Woodstock or Tifton or Augusta picking and moving overseas. Those jobs are going to stay here in Georgia.

“That’s why jobs and the economy are big issues for small business in this election, and it’s why Georgia can’t afford to elect Michelle Nunn.”
