NFIB Member Profile: The Links at Gettysburg

Date: July 31, 2015

The Klein family golf course, The Links at Gettysburg, is
located just 8 miles south of the famous battlefield. President Rick Klein, his
wife, and seven brothers and sisters own the popular golf and wedding venue,
which opened for business in 1999.

It all started back in the 70’s when Rick’s parents and several
siblings bought about 200 acres of farmland.
Today The Links spans 424 acres, which includes a golf course, club
house and a community of 150 luxury homes.
Rick attributes the business’ success to a focus on advance bookings for
golf events and weddings backed up by top notch quality and service.  He says that has resulted in repeat customers
for over 16 years and allowed the family business to successfully ride out the
recession and the housing crunch.

Klein says he has developed the golf course’s residential
community in partnership with several builders, but has really gained traction from
a relationship with High Performance Homes.
That firm’s “Net Zero” luxury dwellings are recognized by the U.S.
Department of Energy for being so energy efficient that they offset most or all
of the annual energy consumption.  That
is a big seller with homebuyers.

The Links has been rated by Golf Digest as the 6th
best course in Pennsylvania, with its quality maintenance, rolling hills and
view of the Blue Ridge Mountains.
