A sneak peek into the multi-year platform of priorities.
On Sept. 14, the Coalition for a Stronger Economy—which includes NFIB/Louisiana and 60 other business and civic groups—announced its agenda, consisting of six strategies for a more prosperous Louisiana.
As Louisiana enters a period of unprecedented growth and opportunity, legislators may either consider rolling back the reforms that have yielded today’s success or sit on their laurels until the next economic slowdown. CASE argues that legislators must continue pressing forward to sustain and increase pro-growth policies that stimulate the economy and bring jobs and prosperity to the state’s citizens.
After the 2015 legislative session—which raised more than $600 million in new taxes, jeopardizing the state’s positive economic trajectory—the upcoming elections come at a pivotal point. Louisianans have the chance to elect new leadership to support a free enterprise system that will help the state thrive in a competitive global economy.
CASE’s agenda, a multi-year platform of priorities, helps provide the roadmap to keep Louisiana moving forward:
1. Accelerate growth in the private sector.
2. Adopt a pro-growth tax code.
3. Transform state budgeting to allow for prioritization of spending.
4. Develop Louisiana’s workforce to promote individual prosperity and a healthy economy for the future.
5. Prioritize infrastructure to sustain economic growth.
6. Improve Louisiana’s legal climate to be fair, efficient and accountable.
