NFIB Launches Radio, Digital Ads for Roberts

Date: October 09, 2014

Small business owners in Kansas today will hit the airwaves and the Internet urging voters to support Sen. Pat Roberts in his bid for reelection in what may be the country’s most unusual race.

“Senator Roberts has been one of the most reliable allies of small business in Washington,” said Lisa Goeas, a vice president with the National Federation of Independent Business, the nation’s leading advocate for small business owners. “On virtually every single important vote this session, Pat Roberts has stood up for Kansas small business owners, which makes him the clear choice in this race.”

The group today launched a flight of broadcast and digital radio ads asking voters to support Roberts in what experts believe is a pivotal race for the US Senate. The effort is part of the NFIB Vote for Main Street Campaign.

NFIB also released a Pat Roberts candidate webpage on its National Election Center website, where voters can go to find tools that make it easy to volunteer for, donate to and support Pat Roberts.

“Our members know Pat Roberts and they trust him to make the tough votes,” said NFIB Kansas State Director Dan Murray. “Greg Orman holds himself out as an independent, business-minded centrist but so far he hasn’t been specific on any of the issues that are important to Kansas small business owners.”

The Kansas launch is the latest in a series of candidate-specific campaigns as part of NFIB’s broader program to elect “Small Business Certified” candidates in 2014. Throughout September, the NFIB will be rolling out similar campaigns to support candidates in battleground states.

“Pat Roberts is a highly principled legislator and a dependable friend of small business,” said NFIB President and CEO Dan Danner. “Plenty of politicians claim to support small business, but with Pat Roberts, it’s not just rhetoric.  His voting record speaks for itself.”
