Small Business Endorses Blum in 1st District Congressional Race

Date: August 15, 2014

The
National Federation of Independent Business endorsed entrepreneur Rod
Blum for Congress in the 1st District on August 14th.

“Rod
is a successful small businessman who aligns very closely with our members,”
said NFIB Iowa State Director Kristin
Failor
.  “He’s also very strong on
the issues that concern Iowa small business owners.”

Blum,
who grew his tech firm from five employees to more than 300 in just a few
years, has focused his campaign on bringing fiscal sanity back to the federal
budget and reducing regulations that are especially burdensome to small
businesses.

He’s
running against former Iowa House Speaker Pat Murphy, whose lifetime voting
record on NFIB’s key issues is a mere 20 percent.

“Pat
Murphy has a long, clear record of voting against Iowa small businesses and
there’s no reason to believe that his voting pattern would change in
Washington,” said NFIB Vice President Lisa Goeas.  “There are already too many members of
Congress who claim to support small business, but who don’t back up their rhetoric
with their vote.  Rod Blum is the only
real choice in this race for Iowa small businesses.”

Blum’s
endorsement comes from the NFIB SAFE Trust, the organization’s political
action committee.  Small business owners
vote in high percentages and they are influential in their communities.  NFIB members in Iowa’s 1st Congressional District will work hard this
year to send Rod Blum to Congress.
