NFIB Endorses Matt Bevin for Governor

Date: October 07, 2015

The National Federation of Independent Business, the nation’s and Kentucky’s leading small-business association, has endorsed Matt Bevin for governor.

“Matt Bevin is the only choice for Kentucky’s small, family businesses,” said Tom Underwood, state director of NFIB/Kentucky.

“Matt Bevin is a small-business owner himself, a serial entrepreneur whose experience in the financial services industry puts him in the best position to address the looming disaster posed by the underfunded Kentucky Employees’ Pension Plan,” Underwood said.

“Something else our members like is that Matt Bevin is not a career politician,” Underwood said. “He’ll bring a fresh perspective to the issues facing our commonwealth.”

“Our members are tired of the same old same old,” he said. “Our members want a governor with real-world experience. Our members want Matt Bevin.”

Before endorsing, NFIB carefully vetted both major-party candidates for governor, reviewed their positions on key issues and performed a statewide poll of the NFIB/Kentucky membership, which voiced overwhelming support for Bevin.

The endorsement comes from the NFIB/Kentucky SAFE (Save America’s Free Enterprise) Trust, the political action committee for NFIB/Kentucky’s membership.

Today’s endorsement puts the considerable grassroots support of Kentucky’s small businesses behind the governor’s campaign. Small-business owners and their employees vote in high numbers and are known for recruiting friends, family members and acquaintances to vote.

NFIB will encourage its 4,000 dues-paying members in Kentucky to help turn out the influential small business voting bloc on Election Day.
