The National Federation of Independent Business, Virginia’s and the nation’s leading small-business association, has announced the endorsement of six members of the U.S. House of Representatives running for reelection.
“Each of these members has achieved a strong NFIB voting record, taking the small-business position on issues such as Obamacare, lawsuit abuse and sensible regulations,” said Nicole Riley, state director of NFIB/Virginia.
The candidates are:
• Rob Wittman (1st District), 100 percent voting record
• Scott Rigell (2nd District), 100 percent
• Randy Forbes (4th District), 100 percent
• Robert Hurt (5th District), 100 percent
• Bob Goodlatte (6th District), 100 percent
• Morgan Griffith (9th District), 78 percent
“Year in and year out, these lawmakers have supported small, family businesses by consistently voting for legislation that will help them succeed and create jobs,” Riley said.
NFIB has over 5,000 dues-paying members in Virginia representing a cross-section of the commonwealth’s economy. The endorsements come from NFIB’s SAFE (Save America’s Free Enterprise) Trust, the association’s political action committee, and are based on positions regarding key small-business issues including health care, taxes, and labor and regulatory issues.
Small-business owners and their employees vote in high numbers and are known for actively recruiting friends, family members and acquaintances to go to the polls. NFIB will encourage its members to help turn out the small-business vote for the candidates in the June 10 primary and again in November.
