NFIB Endorses Elise Stefanik for Congress
Albany (September 30, 2014) – The National Federation of Independent Business (NFIB), the nation’s leading small-business association, announced its endorsement today of Elise Stefanik for U.S. Congress in New York’s 21st Congressional District. NFIB also rolled out a digital campaign urging New Yorkers to get out and vote for Stefanik.
“Our members back the candidates who support small business and will protect free enterprise,” said NFIB/New York State Director Mike Durant. “Elise Stefanik has shown a deep commitment to reducing the burdens on small businesses and opposing legislation that would make it even harder for them to grow and create jobs.
“New York can be a difficult place for small businesses and it’s critical that we have better representation in Washington,” he continued. “Our members are highly engaged in the election this year and we intend to make a difference.”
NFIB Vice President Lisa Goeas said the race is important for small business owners in Upstate New York.
“It’s been difficult for those businesses for a long time, but especially over the last several years,” she said. “Elise Stefanik knows first-hand how small businesses are affected by unnecessary regulations and excessive taxes and she’s the right candidate for that area.”
Stefanik’s endorsement was made by the NFIB SAFE Trust, the organization’s political action committee. Surveys show that small business owners are influential in their communities and NFIB members in New York’s 21st Congressional District will work hard this year to send Elise Stefanik to Washington.
