WATCH: NFIB Endorses David Perdue for U.S. Senate

Date: October 02, 2014

The National Federation of Independent Business, Georgia’s and the nation’ leading small-business association, today endorsed David Perdue for U.S. Senate. The announcement was made at an NFIB-sponsored event at Traxxion Dynamics, an NFIB member business in Woodstock.

“David Perdue is the clear pro-business candidate,” said Lisa Goeas, NFIB vice president for Political and Grassroots. “With over 40 years’ experience leading small businesses and large corporations, David Perdue what the business community needs in order to thrive.

In addition to today’s endorsement, NFIB launched a flight of radio and online ads asking voters to support Perdue in one of the most closely-watched races in the country as control of the Senate hangs in the balance.  The effort is part of the NFIB’s Vote for Main Street campaign.  Click here to listen to the radio ad.

“He supports comprehensive tax reform that would promote growth and encourage more domestic economic investment,” Goeas said. “Furthermore, he agrees with our NFIB members that Obamacare needs to be repealed and replaced. He recognizes the need for health-care reform that makes basic coverage more affordable and more accessible without slamming small businesses with hidden taxes and penalties that discourage job growth.”

NFIB also released a David Perdue candidate webpage on its National Election Center website, where voters can go to find tools that make it easy to volunteer, donate and support Perdue. The website also features a video of Georgia small business owner Max McAlister, who explains the challenges small business are facing and why David Perdue is his choice for U.S. Senate.

Kyle Jackson, state director of NFIB/Georgia said, “David Perdue understands from personal experience the challenges big government can throw in the path of small businesses. He believes in lower taxes and sensible regulations that encourage small businesses to grow and create jobs.”

“David Perdue clearly understands the challenges facing Georgia’s small-business owners, their employees and their families,” Jackson said. “Our members are counting on him, and he can count on our members’ support on Election Day.”

NFIB has over 7,000 dues-paying members in Georgia representing a cross section of the state’s economy. Perdue’ endorsement comes from the NFIB SAFE (Save America’ Free Enterprise) Trust, the association’s political action committee, and is based on the candidate’s positions regarding key small-business issues including health care, taxes, and labor and regulatory issues.

Small-business owners and their employees vote in high numbers and are known for actively recruiting friends, family members and acquaintances to go to the polls. NFIB will encourage its members to help turn out the small-business vote on Election Day.
