NFIB Endorses Darlene Senger in 11th District Congressional Race

Date: April 25, 2014

The National Federation of Independent Business, Illinois’ and the nation’s leading small-business association, has endorsed Darlene Senger in the 11th District congressional race. NFIB’s endorsement was made today at a campaign event at Alarm Detection Systems, Inc., an NFIB member business in Aurora.
The endorsement comes from the NFIB SAFE (Save America’s Free Enterprise) Trust, the association’s political action committee.
“Our members support the candidates who support small business, and there’s no doubt that Darlene Senger will stand up for Illinois’ small, family businesses in Congress just as she has in the state Legislature,” said Lisa Goeas, NFIB vice president for Political and Grassroots.
Senger earned a 100 percent NFIB/Illinois voting record in the 2011-12 session of the Legislature. In the current legislative session, she has supported NFIB members on key issues such as easing the regulatory burden on small businesses. She co-sponsored SB1 in the House, a measure to reform the state’s broken pension plan, and she sponsored a proposed amendment to the state Constitution that would suspend legislators’ pay unless they approve a balanced state budget.
“Darlene Senger has been unwavering in her support of Illinois’ small-business owners and employees and their families,” said Kim Clarke Maisch, state director of NFIB/Illinois. “She’s been a tremendous ally of small businesses in Springfield, and we know she’ll continue to support our members on Capitol Hill.”
NFIB has over 11,000 members in Illinois, representing a cross section of the state’s economy. Senger’s endorsement is based on her record and positions on key small-business issues including health care, taxes, and labor and regulatory issues.
Small-business owners and their employees vote in high numbers and are known for actively recruiting friends, family members and acquaintances to go to the polls. NFIB will encourage its members to help turn out the small-business vote for Senger in the November election.
