The National Federation of Independent Business, Illinois’ leading small-business association, said today it has endorsed Bobby Schilling for Congress in the 17th District.
“Our members support the candidates who support small business, and there’s no doubt that Bobby Schilling is the small-business candidate in the 17th District race,” said Lisa Goeas, NFIB vice president for Political and Grassroots.
“Unlike a lot of politicians, Bobby Schilling has real-world business experience,” said Kim Clarke Maisch, state director of NFIB/Illinois. “His family owns and operates Saint Giuseppe’s Heavenly Pizza in Moline, an NFIB member business. He understands the challenges facing small business, and he knows how overreaching regulations and higher taxes can discourage job growth.
“During his previous term in Congress, Bobby Schilling earned a 100-percent NFIB Voting Record, supporting efforts to repeal Obamacare and pass sensible regulations,” Maisch said. “Bobby Schilling helped lead the Small Business Caucus and served on the Small Business Committee.”
His opponent, Cheri Bustos, has earned only a 29-percent NFIB Voting record, standing with small business only twice during the 113th Congress, Maisch said.
Bobby Schilling’s endorsement comes from the NFIB SAFE (Save America’s Free Enterprise) Trust, the association’s political action committee, and is based on his record and positions on key small-business issues including health care, taxes and labor and regulatory issues.
NFIB has 11,000 dues-paying members in Illinois representing a cross section of the state’s economy. Small-business owners and their employees vote in high numbers and are known for actively recruiting friends, family members and acquaintances to go to the polls. NFIB will encourage its members to help turn out the small-business vote on Election Day.
