NFIB Connecticut Backs Zawistowski in D61 Special Election Race

Date: March 25, 2014

Hartford (March
25, 2014)
– The National Federation
of Independent Business (NFIB)
today endorsed businesswoman Tami Zawistowski in her special
election bid to represent the 61st District.

“Tami’s positions on the issues align perfectly with
our membership but we are most impressed by her experience as a businesswoman
and small business owner,” said NFIB
Connecticut State Director Andrew Markowski
.  “That kind of experience is badly needed in
Hartford and our members are very excited by her candidacy.”

The 61st House District includes
Suffield, East Granby and Windsor.
Zawistowski, who is also a member of NFIB and currently serves on its
Connecticut Leadership Council, wants to reduce state spending, cut taxes and
broaden the state’s economic strategy.

“Connecticut has one of the worst reputations in
America as a place to do business and Tami understands how that affects
investment and job growth,” said Markowski.
“Her positions as a candidate are clearly informed by her experience as
a business owner and she’ll be a great asset for small business in the House.”

Zawistowski is running against Peter Hill, who
failed to return the NFIB candidate questionnaire and was therefore ineligible
for consideration.  Her endorsement was
made by the NFIB SAFE-Trust, the group’s political action committee.  Small business owners are influential in
their communities and NFIB members will work hard this year to send Tami
Zawistowski to Hartford.
