NFIB Backs LePage for Reeelction

Date: October 09, 2014

Augusta (October 9, 2014) – The National Federation of Independent Business (NFIB), Maine’s leading
small business organization, today endorsed Governor Paul LePage for reelection.

“He’s
a lifelong businessman, a self-made success and a former NFIB member,” said NFIB Maine State Director David Clough.
“He’s been unwavering in his focus on making Maine more competitive and he’s
been very clear that the only way to spread prosperity to Maine residents and
workers is to create more opportunities for businesses to invest and grow.”

LePage
is in a three-way race against Congressman Mike Michaud and lawyer Eliot
Cutler.  Michaud voted with Maine small
businesses
only one time during the current session of
Congress and not at all in the previous Congress.

NFIB
represents thousands of small business owners in Maine and they strongly
support his efforts to cut taxes, streamline regulations, avoid new burdens on
the cost of jobs and be more careful about government spending obligations.

“Conventional
politicians all claim to support those objectives.  What makes Paul LePage unconventional is that
he’s actually willing to fight for them,” said Clough.  “This is going to be a tight race right down
to the finish and small business owners in Maine will be working hard to
reelect Paul LePage as Governor.”

LePage’s
endorsement was made by the NFIB SAFE Trust, the organization’s political
action committee.  Surveys show that
small business owners are influential in their communities and this year NFIB
members are enthusiastic about reelecting Paul LePage.
