Bell, managing partner of accounting firm Davis, Bell & Amerson LLC in Atmore, is a newly elected member of the NFIB Alabama Leadership Council.
How long have you been a member of NFIB?
I have only been a member of NFIB for a little over a year. My former partner (Bobby Davis, CPA) was a member of the NFIB for over 50 years.
How has being an NFIB member helped you?
In this past year, membership with NFIB has definitely kept me abreast of legal issues and legislative issues that directly affect small businesses. I am amazed at the amount of legislation and discussion that goes on at the state and federal levels that directly impact small businesses.
What are your responsibilities of serving on the leadership council?
As part of the leadership council, we offer our experience and expertise in how best to respond to legislative items that directly and indirectly affect small businesses in the state of Alabama. We have monthly meetings in which we advise the executive director on pending legislation and how best to voice our concerns to our senator and congressmen.
What are some issues you’d like to address as a member of the leadership council?
My main focus is making sure that our laws are fair and just for small business. It has been said that whatever the direction our small businesses are headed, so goes the country. Small businesses are the backbone of our country and economy.
