Miller Textiles - Helping Other Businesses Operate

Date: July 10, 2014

In 1946, Robert and Henrietta Miller launched Miller Textile
Services, a business to provide residential pickup and delivery of laundered
clothing to working families. Miller’s Textile Services has since exited the
residential market and expanded to provide a wide variety of services including
delivering linen, uniforms, floor mats, and janitorial supply products to
businesses in multiple states.

The business has been an NFIB member for almost 30 years. Current
owner Robert Hager, of Miller’s Textile Services is proud that his small
business is still a fully private, family owned enterprise. Today, Miller’s
Textile has 180 dedicated employees in four different state operations. They
pride themselves on providing useful products and services that improve their
customers’ image and allow their clients to operate cleaner, safer businesses.

Their impressive facility offers them room to grow and their
location allows easy access for deliveries and shipments to better meet
customer needs.  The organization of the
warehouse area provides a systematic approach to moving used items through the
plant where they are cleaned, packaged and prepared for delivery back to the
numerous businesses they serve.

Gridlock and a lack of accomplishing common sense objectives
on the federal level are a major concern for Miller’s Textile Service’s. The
continuing gridlock and lack of decisiveness from leadership on the national
level of government is an ongoing challenge, according to Hager. That is why
NFIB is important to him and his company.

“NFIB providing a clear voice on both the local and national
levels for all types of small businesses is vital to the success of our
countries free enterprise system,” Hager states. He adds “NFIB empowers small
businesses by providing a powerful message, staying active with membership, and
setting up Area Action Council meetings with legislators.”

For Bob, the best part of being a small business owner is the
freedom, as well as the ability to create and shape his vision for his own
future and business. He doesn’t discourage anyone with an entrepreneurial
spirit from looking into starting their own small business, but advises them to
seek help and advice from others with experience and knowledge. Finding
trustworthy people that can offer you wise business advice is invaluable for a
business owner.
