Massachusetts Small Business Backs Chapman in Cape Cod Congressional Race

Boston (October 15, 2014) – The National
Federation of Independent Business (NFIB)
today endorsed former state
Commissioner and Undersecretary of Economic Development, John Chapman, in the 9th
Congressional District Race.

“John Chapman worked very closely with small businesses owners in the
course of his career and he knows how hard it is to compete in Massachusetts
with the wrong policies in Washington,” said NFIB Massachusetts State Director Bill Vernon.   “Cape Cod is dominated by small businesses
and our members are eager to have a representative in Washington who fights for
their interests.”

Chapman is running against two-term incumbent Rep. Bill Keating, whose
lifetime NFIB Voting Record is extremely disappointing.

“Bill Keating has voted with small business only nine percent of the
time,” said NFIB Vice President Lisa Goeas.
“He claims to care about small business, but his voting record tells a
much different story.”

NFIB ballots its members every session of Congress to identify the key
issues for small business.  Then it
tracks the votes of every member of Congress.
Lawmakers who vote with NFIB members at least 70 percent of the time are
eligible to be endorsed.  Keating,
unfortunately, has disqualified himself by voting consistently with Big Labor,
trial lawyers and other interest groups that usually support higher taxes and
more regulations on small business.

“John Chapman has made it clear that he’s on our side,” said
Vernon.  “Small business owners,
consumers and taxpayers in Massachusetts need a genuine ally in Congress and
we’re very excited about John Chapman’s candidacy.”

Chapman’s endorsement comes from the NFIB SAFE Trust, the
organization’s political action committee.
Small business owners tend to be politically active and influential in their
communities and this year NFIB members in the 9th Congressional
District will work hard to send John Chapman to Washington.
