Take Action Today! Mandatory Paid Sick Leave Legislation Being Considered

Author: Miranda Bond Date: April 30, 2014

The New Jersey Legislature is once again considering a mandatory paid sick leave bill that will require employers to give their workers one hour of sick leave for every 30 hours they work capping the benefit at nine days.

Many employees in New Jersey already get paid sick leave.  In fact, small businesses are eager to treat their workers generously and attract better talent by offering better pay and benefits.  But the practical truth is that many small businesses can’t afford to provide the benefit. We need your help fighting this legislation

NFIB is collecting photos of small business owners in New Jersey to show how this legislation will impact small business. We encourage your to participate in our project by taking the following steps.

  1. Create a sign detailing how mandatory paid sick leave will impact your business and your employees (see below for an example)
  2. Take a picture of yourself holding the sign
  3. Email your picture to NFIB Member Support Manager, Miranda Bond miranda.bond@nfib.org -or- Tweet your photo to @nfib_nj
  4. NFIB will share your photo on social media and with your New Jersey legislators
